The Saab 35 Draken (IPA: [²drɑːkɛn]; 'The Kite' or 'The Dragon') is a Swedish fighter-interceptor developed and manufactured by Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (SAAB) between 1955 and 1974.

My interest in Draken

When I was a kid me and my parents went to air shows at the local airport, where the military displayed their aircrafts. I loved the sound when the Draken broke the sound barrier. It was awesome. Many years later they created a museum in the old mountain hangars close by the airport called Aeroseum.

There they had old airplanes and helicopters up for display. Me and my parents went there, and you could get into the Draken aircraft yourself and sit in the pilot seat, that was fun!

Pandemic

During the pandemic, I resumed my model building hobby and I got myself a 1/72 scale Draken kit from Hasegawa. It was fun to put together and paint using newly purchased airbrush.

Result

Some parts got damaged during handling and the canopy is a bit blurry (for reasons). But overall I am pretty happy with it. I want to do a 1/48 scale build of the Draken in the future.
